    A Proud Mother’s Journey

At the 2026 British Diversity Awards, Tamzin Outhwaite spoke candidly about her role as a parent to her 17-year-old son, Flo, who came out as transgender at age 10. While the 55-year-old actress acknowledges it has been a “very long journey” with “dark times,” she describes the current state of her family as one of total thriving.

Outhwaite, who shares Flo and 12-year-old Marnie with ex-husband Tom Ellis, credits family therapy for helping them navigate the transition. Flo is now making his own mark in the arts as an actor, singer, and director in sixth form.

“To see him thriving is just nothing but relief and joy for me. He’s an incredibly funny, intelligent boy… it’s not even the most interesting thing about him.” — Tamzin Outhwaite

The Secret to Her 55-Year-Old Glow

Addressing recent speculation about her youthful appearance, the former EastEnders star was quick to clarify her stance on cosmetic surgery. Despite a loss of confidence following weight loss and the onset of menopause, Outhwaite has maintained a strict “no-knife” vow.

The Treatment: She opted for NeoGen, a high-tech skin-lifting alternative to a traditional facelift.

The Process: Rather than a one-time surgery or injectables, she underwent 8 to 10 treatments over the course of a year.

The Result: Outhwaite refers to them as “intense facials” that improved her skin quality and restored her confidence without changing her natural features.

Career and the “Albert Square” Question

Outhwaite’s professional life is currently centered on the stage, where she is playing the iconic role of Beverly in the UK tour of Abigail’s Party. The tour, which includes stops in Bath, Cambridge, and Brighton, marks a return to her theatre roots.

As for a return to EastEnders as Mel Owen? Given that her character was killed off in a high-speed chase in 2019, Outhwaite remains realistically skeptical.

The “Ghost” Theory: With the show’s 40th anniversary recently featuring “ghost” appearances from past legends, she joked that she would only return as an “old lady ghost.”

Summer Projects: While Mel Owen might be resting in peace, Tamzin teased unannounced television projects scheduled for release in the summer of 2026.

    Operational Excellence in Personal Life

Since her split from long-term boyfriend Tom Child in 2024, Outhwaite has leaned into a lifestyle of balance. She prioritizes fitness and discipline, telling Women’s Health that maintaining her health during menopause is a primary platform for her overall happiness.
