A record number of British artists have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, with legendary bands such as Oasis, Iron Maiden, and Sade among the headline inductees.
The 2026 class features six British acts out of eight total inductees, marking a historic milestone for UK music representation. Other British honourees include Joy Division (alongside New Order as a combined entry), Phil Collins, and Billy Idol.
They join global names such as Wu-Tang Clan and late soul legend Luther Vandross in the prestigious 2026 class.
This year’s induction marks the highest number of British acts ever selected in a single year, surpassing the previous record of five set in 2019 when artists like Radiohead and The Cure were honoured. Notably, there were no British inductees in 2021.
Oasis’ inclusion comes after a major US tour success, although there is speculation that band members, particularly Liam Gallagher, may not attend the ceremony in Los Angeles. The band has previously expressed mixed feelings about the honour.

Iron Maiden, long considered overdue by fans, finally receive recognition after multiple nominations, despite some members previously criticising the institution.
Sade also makes history, with Sade Adu becoming the first British Black woman inducted into the Hall of Fame. The band remains widely celebrated for timeless hits such as Smooth Operator and Your Love Is King.
Billy Idol, meanwhile, has openly welcomed the honour, calling it an opportunity to thank fans who supported his long career.
The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in November in Los Angeles, celebrating decades of influence across rock, pop, metal, and hip-hop.
