The Incident: “What’s Wrong With Your Face?”
The 45-year-old media personality first realized something was wrong during her daughter Molly’s performance in London.
The Warning Sign: Following the play, Kerry’s daughter Heidi noticed her mother could not smile properly and asked, “What’s wrong with your face?”
Escalating Symptoms: Kerry reported that her speech began to slur and she felt a sense of panic. After a doctor at her hotel confirmed the situation was serious, she was taken to St Thomas’ Hospital and later blue-lighted to King’s College Hospital for specialist care.
The Diagnosis: Stress-Induced Neurological Breakdown
Despite initial fears and hospital staff treating the case as a stroke, CT scans and tests revealed a different cause for her facial paralysis and speech issues.
The Result: Kerry shared that her brain is essentially “broken” in one specific area, preventing it from sending the necessary signals to her facial muscles.
The Cause: Doctors have attributed the condition to extreme stress. Kerry noted that experts, including Celebs Go Dating’s Anna Williamson, suggested it could be “delayed stress” hitting her body just as she started to feel at peace.
