Aimee Lou Wood Takes on the Iconic Role of Pattie Boyd
Aimee Lou Wood, the BAFTA-winning star of Sex Education and The White Lotus, is stepping into the shoes of one of rock history’s most recognizable figures. In the upcoming Sam Mendes project, The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event, Wood will portray Pattie Boyd, the photographer and model who was famously married to George Harrison. Speaking to The Standard, the 32-year-old actress admitted that the role is “quite intimidating” because of how deeply the public knows these historical figures. Wood noted that seeing herself with the signature blonde hair and blue eyes during fittings was a “trippy” experience that required a new level of discipline.
A Star-Studded Cast for the Sam Mendes Beatles Films
The ambition of the Sam Mendes project is unprecedented, with four separate films tracking the lives of each band member. Wood will share the screen with a “Who’s Who” of modern cinema. Her onscreen husband, George Harrison, will be played by Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn. Joining them are Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon. This massive ensemble is further bolstered by Saoirse Ronan (Linda McCartney), Mia McKenna-Bruce (Maureen Starkey), and Anna Sawai (Yoko Ono), completing the inner circle of the Fab Four’s story.

Balancing Jane Eyre and the Beatles Legacy
Despite the pressure of the Beatles films, Wood is busier than ever. She is also set to portray the titular character in a new television adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre. While she described the role of Jane Eyre as feeling more like “home,” Wood emphasized the importance of pushing herself out of her comfort zone. She explained that sticking only to what an actor knows they can do is “the death of your own creativity,” a philosophy that clearly guided her decision to tackle the “specific and detailed” persona of Pattie Boyd.
2026 BAFTA Nominations and Future Release
Aimee Lou Wood’s career trajectory continues to soar as she heads into the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards with two major nominations: Supporting Actress for The White Lotus and Lead Actress for her co-created comedy Film Club. Fans eager to see her transformation into Pattie Boyd will have to wait a bit longer, as the four-film cinematic event is currently slated for an April 2028 release. With filming already underway, the industry is closely watching how this “Four-Film Event” will redefine the musical biopic genre.
