A planned New York exhibition of Paul Klee’s “Angelus Novus” has been postponed. The artwork, on loan from Israel, will not travel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The painting was scheduled for display at the Jewish Museum. It now remains in Israel indefinitely. Museum officials cited logistical and security challenges arising from the war.
“Angelus Novus” is a seminal 1920 work owned by the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. It is infrequently shown abroad, making its anticipated U.S. debut a significant event for scholars and the public.
The postponement reflects the wider impact of international conflicts on cultural exchange. The Jewish Museum has not announced a new date for the exhibition.
