Hollywood legend Carol Burnett has revealed the most embarrassing moment of her decades-long career, sharing why one 1974 film experience still makes her uncomfortable.
The 93-year-old actress and comedian recently appeared on The Patrick Labyorteaux Show, where she discussed the career moment she wishes she could forget.
Burnett named her role in The Front Page as the most difficult experience of her Hollywood journey. She admitted that she did not feel confident about her performance in the 1974 Billy Wilder film.
The actress played Mollie Malloy in the black comedy-drama alongside famous stars, including Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Susan Sarandon, Cliff Osmond, and Charles Durning.
Burnett said she initially believed the role suited her, but she became nervous during filming. After the movie premiered, she felt disappointed when critics gave her performance negative reviews.
She explained that she avoided watching the film after its release because she already knew she was unhappy with her acting.
Burnett also shared an awkward memory from a flight to New York. During the journey, the airline announced that passengers would watch The Front Page and revealed that one of the film’s stars was sitting among them.
She recalled that passengers looked at her, smiled, and waved after hearing the announcement. Burnett admitted she felt embarrassed and uncomfortable during the entire situation.
When the movie began, she chose not to watch it. She noticed passengers lowering their window shades as they watched the film.
After the movie ended, passengers opened their shades, but no one looked back at her or mentioned the film.
Despite this challenging memory, Carol Burnett remains one of the most admired figures in entertainment history. Her remarkable career includes decades of comedy, acting, and unforgettable performances that continue to inspire audiences worldwide
