Acclaimed actress Scarlett Johansson has opened up about her transition into the DC Universe, confessing that stepping into the gritty world of Gotham City brought unique professional hurdles.
While promoting her drama project Paper Tiger, the former Marvel star discussed her highly anticipated casting in The Batman Part II alongside lead actor Robert Pattinson.
Tackling a Complex New Character
Although studio executives and filmmakers have kept exact plot details tightly under wraps, rumors strongly link Johansson to the role of Gilda Dent.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 41-year-old actress admitted that finding her footing in the project pushed her far outside her comfort zone. She confessed that the assignment stirred up a surprising amount of internal pressure.
“It was very hard to figure out,” Johansson shared during the press tour. She added that the intense preparation process brought a noticeable layer of “existential angst”

Production Updates and Directorial Support
Principal photography for the superhero sequel has faced unique scheduling changes. Director Matt Reeves initially kicked off production before stepping away temporarily to handle a personal matter.
To help maintain the film’s rigorous production schedule, Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh stepped in to direct portions of the remaining principal photography while preserving Reeves’ distinct visual style.
Alongside Pattinson and Johansson, the stacked ensemble cast features returning favorites like Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell, alongside fellow newcomer Sebastian Stan.
