Olivia Rodrigo Opens Up About Returning to School After Music Success
Olivia Rodrigo has revealed that she would love to return to school one day, even as she continues to enjoy success in the music industry.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 23-year-old singer and songwriter said she remains interested in learning in a classroom setting. However, she has not decided whether she would pursue a full degree or take individual courses.
“I’d love to go back to school. I feel like that’s kind of a misconception that people have, that you have to go when you’re like 19 years old,” Rodrigo said.
The singer became a global star with her 2021 hit Drivers License. Her success came at a young age, giving her a different path from many people who attend university after high school.
Olivia Rodrigo Wants to Experience Classroom Learning
Rodrigo spent much of her high school education being homeschooled. As a result, she missed some of the experiences that students often enjoy in a traditional school environment.
The Stupid Song hitmaker said she would enjoy attending lectures and learning alongside other students.
“But I would love to go and learn in more of a classroom setting,” she explained.
She also described the idea of sitting in a lecture as something she would find fun. Although it may seem like an ordinary experience, she said it is something she has not had much chance to enjoy.

A Poetry Class Inspired Olivia Rodrigo’s Music
Rodrigo has already explored education beyond her regular school years. In 2022, she took a poetry class at the University of Southern California.
The experience later influenced her creative work. In particular, it helped inspire Lacy, a song featured on her second studio album, GUTS.
The singer has often drawn on personal feelings and experiences when writing music. Her interest in poetry also shows how learning can shape her songwriting.
Although Rodrigo has not confirmed plans to enrol in a degree programme, she remains open to different ways of continuing her education.

Olivia Rodrigo Imagines a Different Career Path
Rodrigo also reflected on what her life might have looked like if her music career had taken a different direction.
She said she believes she would probably have attended college and considered working for a nonprofit organisation.
“It’s funny to think about, though, too, because had I not made Drivers License and my career didn’t go the way that it would have, I honestly feel like I would have gone to college and done some sort of nonprofit work,” she said.
Her comments offer a glimpse into an alternative future beyond music. However, she has not ruled out studying while continuing her career.
Olivia Rodrigo Continues Her Music Journey
Alongside her interest in education, Rodrigo continues to focus on her music career. The supplied report says her latest album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, has been accompanied by The Unraveled Tour.
According to the report, the tour began on September 25 in Hartford, Connecticut. Its Canadian leg was scheduled to start on October 26, with the final performance planned for May 10, 2027, at The O2 in London.
For now, Rodrigo has not announced a firm plan to return to school. Still, her comments make clear that she sees education as an option at any stage of life, even after achieving major success in music.
