Community Raises Thousands to Support Search for Missing Mom Elizabeth Waddell in Grenada
Family, friends, and supporters are helping fund search efforts for North Carolina mother Elizabeth Waddell after she went missing during a trip to Grenada.
More than $20,000 has been raised to support the search for Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, a 44-year-old North Carolina woman who disappeared while vacationing in Grenada.
A GoFundMe campaign was created after Waddell’s family and local authorities continued efforts to determine her whereabouts following her disappearance.
According to police, Waddell arrived in Grenada on July 11 with a friend and spent several days at a resort on the western side of the island before moving to another location in the south on July 21.
She was last seen on July 22 while swimming near Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s. Investigators said they received multiple witness reports indicating that she entered the open water.
The fundraising campaign was launched to help cover search-related expenses, including travel, resources, and support for Waddell’s husband, Cailen, and those assisting with the effort.
The campaign described Waddell as a caring member of the Cary, North Carolina, community who was known for her kindness and ability to connect with others.
Family and friends said they remain hopeful as search operations continue, while supporters have shared messages of encouragement and compassion online.
The fundraiser organizers said any remaining funds not needed for the search mission would be donated to refugee programs and charities in keeping with Waddell’s values of helping others.
Authorities continue to investigate and search for information that could help locate Waddell. Her family has asked the public to continue sharing support and keeping her in their thoughts during the ongoing search.
