Max Greenfield Confirms New Girl Reunion Is Moving Forward With New Scripts
The popular sitcom’s comeback appears closer than ever as Max Greenfield reveals he has seen reunion scripts and says the project is still on track. Fans of the hit comedy are now waiting for the official announcement.
The much-awaited New Girl reunion has received its biggest update yet, with actor Max Greenfield confirming that plans for the return of the beloved sitcom are progressing.
Speaking during an appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Greenfield shared that the reunion project remains active and revealed that he has already reviewed scripts for the upcoming continuation.
“As far as I know, it’s happening,” Greenfield said, adding that the scripts he has seen are “amazing.”
The original New Girl series premiered in 2011 on Fox and became one of the most popular comedy shows of the decade. Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the sitcom followed Jessica Day, played by Zooey Deschanel, as she moved into a Los Angeles loft with roommates Nick Miller, Schmidt and Winston Bishop.
The show featured a strong ensemble cast including Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, whose on-screen chemistry became a major reason behind the series’ success.
Greenfield’s latest comments come after Jake Johnson previously addressed reunion speculation while speaking with Deadline. Johnson jokingly blamed Lamorne Morris for not returning, referencing Morris’ Emmy success and playfully suggesting that he had become “too talented” for the group.
Morris recently earned major recognition for his performance in Fargo, winning an Emmy Award in the Supporting Actor in a Limited Series category. Johnson continued the joke by encouraging fans to ask Morris about the reunion.
The cast previously reunited in 2020 for a special voting PSA featuring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson and Lamorne Morris, but a full scripted reunion has not yet been released.
With Greenfield now confirming that scripts exist, excitement among New Girl fans continues to grow. The update suggests that the comedy series could soon bring back its iconic characters for another memorable chapter.
