Christine Taylor has opened up about an uncomfortable request she received while working on The Brady Bunch Movie.
The 55-year-old actress played Marcia Brady in the 1995 comedy film. The movie was inspired by the classic television series created by Sherwood Schwartz.
During a recent appearance on the Office Ladies podcast, Taylor recalled being asked to lose 10 pounds for the role.
She admitted that the request made her feel embarrassed at the time. However, she was determined to play Marcia and agreed to lose the weight.
Taylor also noted how much Hollywood has changed since the 1990s. She said a request like that would likely be viewed very differently in the industry today.
The actress explained that her weight changed again during filming. As production continued, she gradually gained some of the weight back.
Because the movie included reshoots, viewers may even notice small changes in her appearance between certain scenes.
Taylor has often spoken about being a fan of The Brady Bunch. Landing the role of Marcia was therefore a major opportunity early in her career.
Despite the uncomfortable demand, the film became one of Taylor’s most memorable projects and helped introduce her to a wider audience.
Her latest comments also highlight how beauty standards and expectations for actors have evolved in Hollywood over the past three decades.
