Created by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, the series is backed by Warner Bros. Television and continues Lawrence’s track record of delivering successful multi-season comedies.
The decision to renew the show follows its impressive debut, which attracted around 2.4 million viewers across platforms within the first three days, making it one of HBO’s biggest comedy launches in over a decade.
Rooster has been praised for its lighter, more heartfelt comedic tone, offering a different style compared to HBO’s typically edgy comedy lineup.
Alongside Carell, the series features a strong ensemble cast including Phil Dunster, Danielle Deadwyler, Lauren Tsai, Connie Britton, and John C. McGinley.
