Sebastian Stan Fuels ‘Batman Part II’ Casting Rumors with Cryptic Statement

The “Winter Soldier” may be trading his vibranium arm for a coin flip. Sebastian Stan has sparked a massive wave of fan speculation regarding his potential involvement in Matt Reeves’ upcoming DC sequel, The Batman Part II.

The 43-year-old actor recently participated in an online chat with his gym trainer, where he discussed his rigorous preparation for a mysterious “summer experience.” His choice of words has led many to believe he is preparing for the role of the Gotham City District Attorney, Harvey Dent.

“People Have No Idea What’s Coming”

During the training session, Stan teased that his next project is unlike anything the audience expects. “I’ve been also training a lot for this ‘summer experience’ that’s about to happen,” Stan stated. “It’s just going to be so crazy. People have no idea what’s coming. And I mean that very well. I don’t even mean to tease anything.”

Despite his claim that he wasn’t trying to tease, the timing of the statement is hard to ignore. Production for The Batman Part II is reportedly scheduled to begin this summer, perfectly aligning with Stan’s training timeline.

    The Harvey Dent Connection

Rumors have circulated for months that the Avengers star is the top choice to play Harvey Dent—the tragic figure who eventually becomes the villainous Two-Face. The character was famously portrayed by Aaron Eckhart in 2008’s The Dark Knight.

If cast, Stan would join a high-caliber ensemble led by Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman). The sequel is also expected to feature the return of Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Interestingly, rumors have also linked Scarlett Johansson to the project, though her role remains unconfirmed.

    The Road to Gotham

Directed by Matt Reeves, the film is currently slated for a theatrical release on October 1, 2027. With filming imminent, an official casting announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery is expected soon. If the theories prove true, Stan’s transition from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the gritty, grounded streets of Reeves’ Gotham would mark one of the most significant “genre-jumps” in recent superhero cinema.
