The “Fast & Furious” family is officially moving from the fast lane of the big screen to the episodic world of streaming. On Monday, May 11, 2026, franchise patriarch Vin Diesel took the stage at the NBCUniversal Upfront presentation alongside Jimmy Fallon to announce a massive expansion of the $7 billion saga into television.

“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel told the audience. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories.”

While Diesel claimed that Peacock is “launching four shows” from the high-octane universe, industry sources later clarified that one live-action series is currently formally set up, while three additional projects remain in various stages of development at Universal Television.

    Protecting the Legacy

Diesel noted that the transition to TV only felt right once Donna Langley, Chairman of NBCUniversal Studio Group, took the helm to oversee the expansion. “I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, and what makes us all feel like family would be protected,” Diesel added.

The upcoming TV slate will be led by a seasoned creative team

Showrunners: Mike Daniels (Sons of Anarchy) and Wolfe Coleman (Shades of Blue) are set to co-showrun and write the pilot.

Executive Producers: Diesel and Samantha Vincent (One Race) will produce alongside franchise veterans Neal H. Moritz, Chris Morgan, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Pavun Shetty.

    The Road to Fast Forever

This move into live-action TV comes as the cinematic saga nears its finish line. The 11th and final mainline film, officially titled Fast Forever, is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028. The finale is rumored to bring the story full circle, potentially featuring the return of Brian O’Conner (the character played by the late Paul Walker) through advanced digital technology.

As fans wait for the 2028 finale, the new Peacock series are expected to bridge the gap, exploring the origins and side-stories of the franchise’s “legacy characters” that have defined the series since its debut in 2001.
