“There Is No Light”: Anne Hathaway Terrifies in First “Verity” Trailer
The first footage of the Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity has arrived, and it’s every bit as twisted as the 2018 best-seller. The teaser, released on April 27, has sent shockwaves through social media, specifically for a disturbing “kiss” sequence that signals a very dark R-rated direction for the film.
The “Bite” Scene That Has Fans Screaming
The trailer centers on Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson) as she arrives at the Crawford estate to ghostwrite for the bedridden Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway).
The psychological tension explodes in a surreal sequence where Lowen believes she is kissing Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett). In a horrifying twist, she realizes the person she is kissing is actually a conscious, biting Verity. The scene ends with a bloodied lip and a chilling warning from Hathaway:
“Even with my generous warning, you’re going to continue to ingest my words. But know one thing: there is no light where we’re going.”

Why the Casting is Trending
Fans have been quick to praise the chemistry and “dark energy” of the lead trio. While Hathaway is being hailed as “perfect” for the chilling role of Verity, the internet is equally buzzed about the “Hartnett Renaissance,” with many eager to see Josh Hartnett take on the brooding, secretive role of Jeremy.
