Sylvester Stallone Reveals Why He Regrets Doing His Own Stunts

Sylvester Stallone has opened up about the physical cost of performing his own stunts. The veteran actor admitted that some of his biggest career decisions left him with serious injuries and lasting pain.

During an October 13 interview with Fox News Digital, Stallone looked back on his long career and shared some of his biggest regrets. The Rambo: First Blood star said he should have allowed trained professionals to handle more of the dangerous work.

Sylvester Stallone Opens Up About Years of Injuries

Stallone revealed that he has suffered countless injuries while making films. He described the list of injuries as so long that it could fill hours of conversation.

“I could literally spend a half hour talking about injuries,” he said, explaining how years of physical strain added up over time.

For Stallone, the consequences went far beyond a few painful moments on set. His injuries required multiple surgeries and continued to affect his daily life.

The Expendables Left a Lasting Physical Impact

Stallone pointed to The Expendables as one of the films that took a serious toll on his body. He revealed that the damage led to several major medical procedures.

“After Expendables, I ended up with nine back operations, three neck fusions,” he said. He also described serious injuries to both shoulders and problems involving his eye.

The actor explained that the repeated surgeries changed his physical condition. As a result, he has had to adjust to the lasting effects of those injuries.

Stallone Says He Has Learned to Live With Pain

Looking back, Stallone admitted that he made mistakes by taking on too much himself. He believes he should have trusted other professionals to do their jobs rather than putting his body through so much strain.

One of the biggest lessons he has learned is the need to accept his physical limits.

“Now you have to make peace with the pain as much as you can,” Stallone said.

His comments offer a glimpse into the sacrifices behind some of his most action-packed performances. While his commitment helped shape his career, the actor now recognises the cost of those decisions.

Sylvester Stallone Reflects on His Action Movie Legacy

Stallone built his reputation through action films such as Rambo, Rocky and The Expendables. His physically demanding roles helped make him one of Hollywood’s best-known action stars.

However, his recent reflections show another side of that success. Behind the fight scenes and daring stunts, years of injuries left him facing difficult health challenges.

Stallone’s experience highlights why stunt professionals play such an important role in filmmaking. Even experienced actors can face serious risks when they perform dangerous scenes themselves.
