Legendary actor Sam Neill, known for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park franchise, passed away after complications from pneumonia following a difficult health journey.
The cause of death of acclaimed actor Sam Neill has been revealed after his sudden passing at the age of 78.
According to his longtime agent Philip Grenz, the New Zealand actor died from pneumonia months after successfully overcoming lymphoma through advanced treatment.
Neill was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer, in 2022. He later revealed that he had entered remission after undergoing CAR-T therapy.
His representative said Neill continued working despite his health challenges, completing multiple projects in recent months while also managing his vineyard business, Two Paddocks.
Grenz described Neill as a dedicated professional and thanked fans for respecting the privacy of his family during this difficult period.
The actor’s family previously announced his “sudden and unexpected” death, saying he passed away surrounded by loved ones in Sydney, Australia.
They expressed gratitude to medical staff who cared for Neill and requested privacy as they mourned the loss of the beloved performer.
Throughout his decades-long career, Sam Neill became internationally recognized for roles in films and television series, with his portrayal of Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park remaining one of his most memorable performances.
