Katy Perry has cancelled her scheduled performance at Belgium’s Werchter Boutique festival after organizers called off the event due to severe weather conditions and safety concerns.
The 41-year-old pop star shared the announcement on Instagram, explaining that she was already backstage preparing for the show when she was informed of the decision.
“Sadly my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can’t happen due to a government mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns,” Perry wrote.
She added that the decision was completely out of her control and emphasized her disappointment at not being able to perform for fans. Perry said she was “just as unhappy” as concertgoers and apologized for the disruption caused by the cancellation.

“I am sorry I can’t change the weather, and even sorrier that all of us can’t be together tonight,” she wrote, expressing regret over the sudden change in plans.
The singer also revealed she had planned a nostalgic moment for the event, noting she intended to wear the same outfit she performed in during her 2009 appearance at the same festival, marking her return after 16 years.
Despite the cancellation, Perry is still expected to continue her summer festival schedule across Europe in the coming weeks.
The decision comes amid unpredictable weather conditions affecting several major outdoor events across the region, where organizers have increasingly prioritized audience safety during extreme weather alerts.
While fans were disappointed, the cancellation underscores growing safety concerns at large-scale outdoor concerts as extreme weather continues to disrupt live events across Europe.
