Singer Jessica Simpson has spoken openly about the intense pressure she faced at the beginning of her music career, revealing that industry executives pushed her to change her appearance to fit pop star expectations.

Speaking during a recent concert in Pennsylvania, Simpson reflected on being compared to major pop icons of the time, including Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, as she entered the music industry as a teenager.

She explained that shortly after signing her record deal, she was told to lose weight despite already being very young and within a healthy range. According to Simpson, she was just 17 when she first received instructions to alter her body to meet industry standards.

The singer said executives expected her to achieve an unrealistic physique, including visible abs, something she said was never naturally achievable for her body type. She described feeling pressure to conform to an image that did not reflect who she was.

Simpson shared that these expectations led to long-term emotional struggles, as she often felt she was not meeting the standards set for her. She admitted that this constant comparison left her feeling like she was never “good enough” in the early stages of her career.

Despite those challenges, the I Wanna Love You Forever hitmaker has continued to evolve as an artist. She also revealed she has been working on new music over the past three years, marking a reflective and creative chapter in her career.

Performing live, Simpson said she now feels more comfortable on stage than anywhere else, describing music as a grounding and empowering space in her life.
