Jessica Biel Returns to Movies After 9 Years With Matchbox
Jessica Biel is stepping back into the spotlight with Matchbox, her first feature film in nearly nine years. The actress says the action-packed adventure offered the perfect opportunity to return to movies while balancing family life.
Biel discussed her long-awaited comeback during San Diego Comic-Con, where she appeared alongside co-stars John Cena, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, and Teyonah Parris to promote the upcoming film.
Speaking about her decision to return, Biel said she had been eager to work in films again but wanted to wait for the right project at the right time.Olivia Culpo Reveals Baby Birth Plan
“Getting back into the film industry has been something that I’ve been really excited about doing,” she said, adding that timing and the quality of the project were key factors in her decision.
The actress also explained that family responsibilities influenced her career choices. Biel shares two sons, Silas and Phineas, with husband Justin Timberlake, and said raising young children requires careful planning when selecting new roles.

Inspired by Mattel’s iconic Matchbox toy cars, the film follows a group of childhood friends whose lives take an unexpected turn when one of them, an undercover CIA agent played by John Cena, reunites the group for a high-stakes mission to save the world.
Biel said the movie brought back memories of playing with Matchbox cars during her childhood and noted that she now enjoys buying the toys for her own children, making the project especially meaningful on a personal level.
Directed by Sam Hargrave, Matchbox combines action, adventure, and nostalgia in a story designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.
The film is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on October 9, marking Biel’s first movie appearance since Shock and Awe, released in 2017. During her break from feature films, she remained active on television with acclaimed performances in series including Candy and The Better Sister.
With Matchbox, Jessica Biel is making a highly anticipated return to the big screen, bringing together action, family-friendly nostalgia, and a star-studded cast in one of the year’s most talked-about streaming releases
