The cast of upcoming indie thriller Hot Year continues to gain momentum, with Cole Sprouse officially joining a lineup that includes Kathryn Newton, Dove Cameron, and Storm Reid.

Directed by Roxy Sophie Sorkin, the revenge-driven thriller is scheduled to begin filming in Oklahoma this May, according to industry reports. The project is already drawing attention for its strong ensemble cast and bold creative direction.

Hot Year centers on two lifelong friends in a quiet Pacific Northwest town facing an intense heatwave. What begins as a plan for revenge against an ex-boyfriend spirals into a dangerous chain of events. As the night unfolds, the characters are forced to confront consequences that quickly move beyond their control.

The film aims to blend psychological tension with emotional complexity, exploring themes of friendship, anger, and identity under extreme circumstances. The escalating narrative is expected to push characters into morally challenging territory.

Behind the scenes, the production brings together an experienced team. Producers include Jordan Wagner for Wagner Entertainment and Christine Vachon of Killer Films. Ryan Hamilton serves as executive producer, with Amanda Larney as co-producer and George Bicknell as associate producer.

Sprouse’s addition further strengthens the cast, bringing a recognizable presence to the indie project. He is widely known for his roles in Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, The Suite Life on Deck, and the hit series Riverdale.

With filming set to begin soon, Hot Year is shaping up as a notable entry in the indie thriller space, combining star power with a bold narrative vision.

As anticipation builds, Hot Year stands out as a character-driven thriller with a fresh perspective. With a compelling cast and a daring creative approach, the film could emerge as one of the most talked-about indie releases in the coming year.
