Bridgerton Announces New Prequel About Lady Violet
Netflix is expanding the Bridgerton universe with a new prequel series.
The upcoming show will focus on the early life of Lady Violet Bridgerton. She is the mother of the Bridgerton family.
The story will explore Violet’s romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. It will also show how their family became the center of the Bridgerton story.
New Bridgerton Series Will Follow Young Violet
The new series does not have an official title yet.
However, Netflix has confirmed that the story will follow a young Lady Violet. Ruth Gemmell plays the character in the original Bridgerton series.
The prequel will give viewers a closer look at Violet’s life before she became the family matriarch.
It will also explore her relationship with Edmund and the early years of their family.
The Series Will Follow Queen Charlotte’s Format
The new project will follow a similar format to Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Netflix released the limited series in 2023. It focused on a young Queen Charlotte and her marriage to King George III.
The series later earned an Emmy for its work.
Similarly, the new Violet prequel will focus on an important character from the main Bridgerton story.

Shonda Rhimes Returns for the Prequel
Shonda Rhimes will write the new series and serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Nicholas Nardini will also write and serve as showrunner and executive producer.
The two previously worked together on Queen Charlotte. They also collaborated on Scandal.
Meanwhile, Tom Verica will direct the series and serve as an executive producer. He is another longtime collaborator of Rhimes.
Netflix Has Not Revealed the Release Date
Netflix has not announced the official title yet.
The streaming platform has also not revealed the full cast.
In addition, Netflix has not shared a release date.
