Lizzo said the controversy deeply affected her after her Special Tour ended in July 2023. She recalled feeling as though her career had suddenly collapsed.
The singer explained that she had grown comfortable with strong public support. She believed she had always been open and genuine with her fans.
That changed when intense criticism began. Lizzo said she struggled to understand why so many people had turned against her.
She admitted that the experience left her feeling extremely low. Music had always been central to her life, so she feared that audiences no longer wanted to hear from her.
