Ryan Gosling is taking on a major production role for Warner Bros.’ upcoming live-action Flintstones project.
The Hollywood star will produce the film through his production company Open Invite along with partner Jessie Henderson.
According to reports, the studio is currently searching for writers for the project. Details about the storyline remain private, but sources suggest the movie will focus on Bamm-Bamm Rubble.
The original Flintstones animated series premiered in 1960. It became the first animated show to earn a prime-time television slot.
The beloved cartoon followed Fred and Wilma Flintstone, their daughter Pebbles, and their close friends Barney and Betty Rubble with their son Bamm-Bamm.
Bamm-Bamm’s character later appeared as a teenager in the 1971 series The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show. The show followed his life at Bedrock High School and his early experiences.
The franchise previously moved to live action with the 1994 film The Flintstones, starring John Goodman, Rick Moranis, and Elizabeth Perkins.
A second live-action movie, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, arrived in 2000. The film served as a prequel and featured a different cast.
Gosling is also producing the upcoming romantic drama Love of Your Life with Jessie Henderson. The film stars Margaret Qualley, Aaron Pierre, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Basso, and Catherine Keener.
With Ryan Gosling attached as producer, the new Flintstones adaptation has already attracted attention from fans of the classic franchise.
