Fans may finally get another chapter of Big Little Lies.
Shailene Woodley recently addressed the possibility of season 3 during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 6.
When E! News asked about the highly anticipated season, Woodley gave a playful response.
“That’s what I hear,” the actress said.
She then added to the speculation by suggesting that she would keep the rumor alive.
“I’m going to continue throwing that rumor mill out there and feeding it,” Woodley said. “You know, that it is happening.”
Her comments have given fans another reason to hope for the return of the hit HBO series.
Liane Moriarty Shares Season 3 Update
The possible new season also has support from the show’s creative team.
Author Liane Moriarty previously revealed that her upcoming book, Big Little Truths, could inspire the next chapter of the series.
Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and creator David E. Kelley have also backed the project.
Moriarty said the producers had already read her new story and responded positively.
“They said nice things,” she revealed.
The author described the potential third season as being in “active, enthusiastic development.”
She also said she hopes production can begin “sooner rather than later.”

Moriarty has also warned fans not to expect an exact adaptation of her new novel.
The producers may follow the general story from the book. However, they could also make major changes for television.
That means the potential third season could take the story in a different direction.

Shailene Woodley is not the only cast member discussing a possible return.
Kathryn Newton, who plays Abigail Carlson, recently shared her optimism about season 3.
Speaking to People in July, Newton said she was “really, really, really, really hopeful” about the show’s return.
The actress also said she had positive feelings about the possibility of Big Little Lies season 3.

It has been more than seven years since season 2 premiered in 2019.
