Ranveer Singh Challenges IMPPA Intervention in Don 3 Dispute

Ranveer Singh Challenges IMPPA Intervention in Don 3 Dispute

Indian actor Ranveer Singh’s dispute over Don 3 has taken a fresh turn after his legal team reportedly opposed the involvement of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA).

According to Mid-Day, IMPPA discussed the matter during a meeting on August 18. Ranveer’s legal representatives had submitted a letter before the meeting, arguing that the association did not have jurisdiction over the dispute.

The legal team also reportedly challenged a claim of Rs 45 crore connected to the film.

Ranveer’s Team Questions IMPPA’s Jurisdiction

According to the report, Ranveer’s legal team argued that he did not have a formal agreement with Excel Entertainment for Don 3.

Instead, the two parties had reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Based on this position, the actor’s representatives questioned IMPPA’s authority to handle the dispute.

An unnamed IMPPA member told Mid-Day that Ranveer’s team had asked the association to dismiss the complaint.

The letter reportedly stated that the dispute could only be resolved through a court if the two sides could not reach an agreement.

Dispute Involves Reported Rs 45 Crore Claim

The reported Rs 45 crore claim has also become a key part of the disagreement.

Ranveer’s legal team has reportedly argued that Excel Entertainment does not have sufficient grounds to pursue the complaint through IMPPA. The team said the production house could approach the court if it wanted to continue with the matter.

The letter also reportedly warned that Ranveer could consider legal action if IMPPA passed a resolution against him.

IMPPA Holds Second Meeting on August 18

The association initially planned to discuss the matter on August 14. However, the meeting was postponed.

Ranveer’s father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, reportedly visited the IMPPA office and was informed about the change in schedule.

The second meeting eventually took place on August 18. During the meeting, Ranveer’s legal team submitted another letter outlining its position.

IMPPA president later confirmed that both sides had presented their arguments. He said the association’s legal team would now examine the matter before any decision is taken.

What Is the Background of Don 3?

Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, announced Don 3 in August 2023.

Ranveer Singh was introduced as the new Don in the franchise. He took over the iconic role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan in the earlier films.

The casting announcement generated significant attention because Ranveer became the latest actor to take on one of Bollywood’s most recognised action roles.

The ongoing dispute now adds another layer to the film’s journey. With IMPPA reviewing the legal positions presented by both sides, the matter could determine how the disagreement moves forward.

For now, Ranveer Singh’s legal team has made its position clear by challenging IMPPA’s jurisdiction and disputing the reported financial claim. The association’s legal team is expected to review both sides before deciding on its next step.
