Ransom Canyon Cancelled After Two Seasons
Netflix has officially pulled the plug on Ransom Canyon.
According to Deadline, the Texas romantic drama will not return for a third season after the streaming service decided against renewing the series beyond Season 2.
The cancellation arrives only about a month and a half after Season 2 premiered on July 23.
Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly led the series, which followed the lives, relationships and conflicts of people living in the fictional Texas community of Ransom Canyon.

However, the show’s cancellation may not come as a complete surprise.
Ransom Canyon struggled to establish itself as a major Netflix hit during its first season. Although the drama attracted a decent audience, its viewership was reportedly not strong enough to guarantee a long-term future.
As a result, the series remained in a vulnerable position after its first season.
The show was also based on Jodi Thomas’ novels, giving Netflix an established story world to work with. Nevertheless, its mixed reception and performance created questions about whether the streamer would continue investing in the adaptation.
Season 2 Came With Major Changes
The drama premiered in April 2025 and spent five weeks in Netflix’s Top 10.
Despite that performance, Netflix waited more than two months after the Season 1 premiere before officially ordering a second season.
Meanwhile, Season 2 arrived with fewer episodes and a creative revamp. The changes also included adjustments to the supporting cast.
Additional cast members across the series included Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher and Casey W. Johnson.

Created by April Blair, Ransom Canyon was developed as an adaptation of Jodi Thomas’ book series.
The show combined romance and family drama with the backdrop of rural Texas. However, despite remaining visible on Netflix’s Top 10 list for several weeks, the series received mixed reviews.
Now, the cancellation means viewers will not see another season exploring the characters’ lives.
For fans, the decision brings an early end to a drama that had already undergone significant changes between its first and second seasons. Ultimately, Ransom Canyon joins the growing list of Netflix shows that ended after a short run despite developing a dedicated audience.
