Ramayana Trailer Divides Fans, Yash’s Ravana Wins Praise
The much-awaited trailer of Ramayana: Part One has finally arrived, giving audiences a closer look at director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic.
Released during the Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 am, the trailer introduces Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Yash as Ravana.
The trailer begins with Ravana’s powerful entry as he declares the rise of “Ravana Raaj.” The story then shifts towards Lord Vishnu’s birth as Prince Ram, his battles against evil forces, and the events that lead to his 14-year exile after Queen Kaikeyi’s demand.
The visuals highlight the grandeur of Ayodhya and Lanka, while the trailer focuses more on emotional storytelling and character journeys instead of fantasy elements. Fans also noticed that Hanuman’s character has not been revealed yet, suggesting the makers may keep his appearance for the second part.
Social media reactions have been mixed. Many viewers praised the film’s visual effects, background score and large-scale presentation, calling it a major achievement for Indian cinema.
However, some fans questioned whether the film’s reported massive budget was reflected in the visuals, while others pointed out that certain scenes appeared less natural due to visual effects.
Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama became one of the biggest discussion points. Some viewers appreciated his calm and composed approach, saying it matched the qualities of Lord Rama, while others criticized his dialogue delivery and performance style.
Meanwhile, Yash’s portrayal of Ravana received widespread appreciation, with many fans calling his casting powerful and praising his screen presence.
The film features music by A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, while DNEG is handling the visual effects.
Ramayana: Part One is scheduled for a global theatrical release on November 8 during Diwali, followed by the second part in 2027.
