Netflix Denies Jackson Documentary Delay Reports

Netflix has dismissed reports suggesting the streaming giant considered delaying its Michael Jackson documentary, confirming the series was released according to schedule despite speculation.

The streaming platform has denied claims that executives had concerns about releasing Michael Jackson: The Verdict after the documentary’s trailer sparked attention.

According to reports, some Netflix officials allegedly worried about possible legal action from Michael Jackson’s estate over content featured in the documentary.

A source claimed the concern was related to potential lawsuits rather than audience reaction. However, Netflix has rejected those claims and said the release plan never changed.

A Netflix spokesperson told Variety that suggestions the company reconsidered the release due to outside pressure were inaccurate.

The spokesperson added that the documentary launched as scheduled and remained in Netflix’s Top 10 rankings for three consecutive weeks.

Michael Jackson: The Verdict explores the singer’s highly publicized 2005 criminal trial, examining the case two decades after Jackson was acquitted of all charges.

The filmmakers said the documentary aimed to provide a detailed review of the trial, noting that cameras were not allowed inside the courtroom and much of the public discussion came through media reports.

The trial included testimony from accusers and defense witnesses who spoke about Jackson’s character. Several well-known personalities, including Macaulay Culkin, Jay Leno, and George Lopez, appeared as defense witnesses.

After more than 30 hours of jury deliberations, Jackson was found not guilty on all 10 felony charges, including allegations related to child molestation and conspiracy.

Netflix’s statement comes as interest in the documentary continues, with viewers debating its approach to one of the most controversial legal cases in entertainment history.
