Elizabeth Waddell’s Husband Shares Emotional Message After Grenada Disappearance
The family of missing North Carolina mother Elizabeth Waddell says the search efforts will continue as authorities investigate her disappearance during a trip to Grenada.
The husband of Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell has released a heartbreaking statement after returning to the United States following an extensive search for his missing wife in Grenada.
Authorities said the 44-year-old North Carolina mother traveled to Grenada with a friend on July 11. She initially stayed at a resort on the western side of the island before moving to another accommodation in the south.
Waddell was last seen on July 22 while swimming near Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s, Grenada. Her disappearance sparked a major search operation involving local authorities and volunteers.
Her husband, Cailen Waddell, traveled to Grenada to support the search efforts and be with those working to locate her.
After nine days of searching, Cailen said the family had done everything possible on the ground and would return to the United States while the investigation continues.
“We have done what we can here, and the investigation will continue,” he wrote in a statement shared through a website created to provide updates on the search.
He also thanked Grenadian authorities for their compassion and support during what he described as an extremely difficult time for the family.
Cailen expressed gratitude to hundreds of supporters who contributed through a GoFundMe campaign to help cover search-related expenses. The fundraising effort collected more than $24,000.
He said the financial support has played an important role in assisting the family while police continue their investigation into Elizabeth’s disappearance.
Authorities have not yet provided further details about what happened to Waddell after she was last seen in the water.
The family and supporters continue to hope for answers as the investigation remains ongoing.
