Speaking during a 92NY conversation featured on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Brown described how the combination of heavy period costumes and scorching temperatures created a tough working environment. She explained that the heat in Malta made even simple outdoor scenes physically draining, especially while wearing layered historical outfits.
According to Brown, conditions became so intense that she felt compelled to raise concerns with the production team. She pushed for better on-set cooling solutions, including additional fans and shaded cooling tents for both cast and crew. Her focus, she said, shifted at times from acting to ensuring everyone could safely continue working under the harsh conditions.
The actress also compared the experience to previous challenging shoots, recalling similar issues while filming in desert environments during earlier projects. She noted that bright sun, heat, and dust significantly impacted concentration, making it harder to maintain performance continuity during takes.
