Mel B Reveals Spice Girls’ Most Painful Moment

Mel B has opened up about one of the most emotional moments of her Spice Girls career, revealing that Geri Horner’s sudden departure from the group was the hardest experience for her.

The singer, whose real name is Melanie Janine Brown, said learning that Geri, famously known as Ginger Spice, had left the global pop sensation was deeply upsetting.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Mel B recalled that the news came on May 29, 1998, which was also her birthday.

She explained that the timing made the moment even more difficult because she did not understand why Geri had decided to leave the group.

Mel B said that although she now understands Geri’s reasons, the announcement was shocking at the time for the remaining members, including Victoria Beckham, Melanie C and Emma Bunton.

Despite the painful memory, Mel B also reflected on some of her favorite moments with the Spice Girls.

Mel B remembered the royal encounter fondly, sharing that the group spent time with the princes at Kensington Palace and even prepared peanut butter and jam sandwiches for them.

She described the young royals as polite, charming and memorable, adding that one of them may have even had a childhood crush on Emma Bunton.

Victoria Beckham has also previously discussed Geri’s departure, admitting that the group was surprised when Horner left without warning.
