Love Island USA Contestant Vasana Montgomery Dropped Before Season 8 Premiere

Just days before the villa doors open, Love Island USA has been hit with major pre-production drama. Incoming contestant Vasana Montgomery has been officially pulled from the upcoming eighth season after controversial videos resurfaced online showing her using a racial slur.

The 25-year-old aesthetician and beauty salon owner from Beaverton, Oregon, was announced as part of the initial 12-person singles lineup by Peacock on Friday, May 29, 2026. However, within 48 hours of the cast reveal, the network made the swift decision to completely scrub her from the series following intense backlash across TikTok and X.

Private Account Loophole Blamed for Vetting Failure

The controversy erupted when former acquaintances leaked two separate videos of Montgomery using the N-word. In one clip, she is seen rapping along to a song lyric without omitting the word, while the second clip captures her using the term casually while visiting an arcade with a friend.

Production insiders confirmed that the offensive footage managed to slip past the casting department’s strict background check protocol due to privacy settings. The clips were originally hosted on a locked, private account that was completely invisible to network investigators during the standard vetting process. Once Montgomery was handed a massive public platform via the official cast rollout, the media files were recorded and circulated publicly by internet users, forcing immediate network intervention.

Pattern of Casting Controversies Plagues the Franchise

Montgomery’s abrupt dismissal marks an unprecedented casting hurdle for the Peacock reality dating franchise, representing the third time in less than two seasons that a contestant has been dropped over the past use of racial slurs.

During the broadcast of Season 7, contestant Yulissa Escobar was removed from the villa during the second episode after old podcast clips resurfaced showing her using the N-word, prompting a lengthy public apology on Instagram. Weeks later, fan-favorite islander Cierra Ortega was quietly sent home after past social media posts came to light containing an anti-Asian racial slur.

The recurring nature of these incidents has sparked intense debate among reality television fans regarding the thoroughness of network background checks, especially as Love Island USA continues to grow into one of Peacock’s flagship original properties.

Premiere Lineup Adjusted for Opening Night

With Montgomery thoroughly edited out of the premiere content and promotional graphics, the remaining 11 singles are still scheduled to enter the luxury villa in Fiji when Season 8 officially debuts on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Returning fan-favorite host Ariana Madix will guide the contestants through the initial coupling ceremony, accompanied by the familiar comedic narration of Iain Stirling.

Anticipating a highly charged environment on social media following the casting shake-up, the show’s executive producers issued a proactive public message directly to the fanbase. The statement strongly encouraged viewers to keep all online commentary respectful, empathetic, and constructive, reminding the community that every participant deserves a safe, harassment-free space both inside and outside the villa.
