The actress recently shared that she initially felt uncertain about stepping into another romantic project, despite the growing excitement surrounding the film adaptation of the bestselling novel by Ali Hazelwood.
During a recent panel discussion while promoting the movie, Reinhart admitted she had not even read the novel before receiving the script. However, her hesitation quickly changed once she explored the story in greater detail.
According to the actress, she first read the screenplay and then turned to the original novel, which ultimately convinced her to join the project. Reinhart explained that while romantic comedies were not necessarily part of her immediate plans, the emotional connection to the story changed everything.
The film follows Olive, a PhD student played by Reinhart, who enters a fake relationship with her professor, Dr. Carlsen, portrayed by Tom Bateman. The story explores how a carefully planned arrangement gradually develops into something deeper.
Bateman revealed he experienced a similar reaction. He admitted he also questioned whether a romantic comedy fit into his future career plans before becoming attached to the story and its characters.
