Liam Payne’s cousin shares regret about his last days

Liam Payne’s Cousin Reveals Regret Over His Final Hours

Liam Payne’s cousin Ross Harris has opened up about the singer’s final hours and the missed phone call he continues to regret.

The former One Direction star died at the age of 31 on October 16, 2024, after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Harris recently discussed his cousin’s final day while appearing on Good Morning Britain to promote his new song, Bones.

Liam Payne Called His Cousin on the Day He Died

During the interview, Harris revealed that Payne had called him on the day of his death.

According to Harris, the call came during the afternoon in his time zone. At that moment, he was working in a music session with Jordan Rams, who he had co-written the song with.

However, Harris said his phone was not with him at the time, so he did not notice Payne’s call immediately.

He later saw the missed call and planned to return it.

The Call Came Too Late

Harris recalled that he noticed the missed call several hours later and thought he would call Payne back.

By the time he returned the call, however, the singer had already died.

The missed call has remained an emotional source of regret for Harris. Although he has found some comfort in knowing that Payne had reached out to him, he said he will always wish he had been able to answer.

Liam Payne’s Complicated Relationship With Fame

Harris also reflected on the pressures Payne experienced after becoming a global star with One Direction.

The band became one of the biggest pop acts in the world after forming on The X Factor in 2010. Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik went on to achieve international success.

Despite the fame and success, Harris suggested that Payne’s experience was more complicated than it appeared from the outside.

“He had everything and nothing at the same time,” Harris said while discussing his cousin’s relationship with worldwide stardom.

The comment highlighted the contrast between Payne’s enormous professional success and the personal difficulties he faced away from the spotlight.

Remembering Liam Payne

Payne’s death shocked fans around the world and prompted tributes from his former One Direction bandmates, fellow musicians and millions of fans.

Since his passing, people close to the singer have continued to share memories of his personality and his life away from the stage.

Harris’s latest comments offer another personal glimpse into Payne’s final days, particularly the connection he maintained with his family.

For Harris, the missed call remains painful. At the same time, knowing that Payne tried to contact him on his final day provides a small sense of comfort.

Liam Payne’s music and his years with One Direction continue to keep his memory alive among fans worldwide.
