Kim Petras has dismissed rumours suggesting she criticised Nicki Minaj after a viral message from her fan chatroom sparked widespread online debate.
The controversy began when an unexpected post appeared in Petras’ newly launched chat feature, quickly circulating on social media and drawing intense fan reaction.
The message reportedly read: “detour coming to outstream alone. we need to remove the song with that beast of a lady from my [discography] what y’all think,” prompting speculation that it referred to Minaj, who collaborated with Petras on the 2023 track Alone.

The wording led many users to assume Petras had made negative comments about her collaborator, while others connected the discussion to Minaj’s history of public controversies.
However, Petras’ team has strongly denied that she was responsible for the message.
“Kim Petras launched a new chat feature on her website yesterday where her name was meant to be user-protected, however earlier today someone other than Kim was able to use the name and type things without her knowledge or approval,” a representative told People.
The statement further clarified that Petras had been in Miami working throughout the day and had not yet logged in to interact with fans on the platform.
Following the incident, the chat feature was taken offline while an investigation is carried out.
