Kanye West San Antonio Concert Faces Backlash as Second Show Is Canceled

Kanye West’s latest return to the stage continues to attract both major attention and controversy, with new developments surrounding his scheduled San Antonio concert.

The rapper, also known as Ye, is set to perform on July 4 at the Alamodome, one of the city’s largest venues. While organizers initially left room for a potential second show on July 5, that option has now officially expired after missing key scheduling deadlines, effectively canceling any extension of the event.

The announcement comes as West’s live performances remain polarizing across the United States. His recent Tampa show faced criticism from sections of the public, with calls for cancellation tied to his past controversies. Despite the backlash, the Florida concert went ahead as planned.

In San Antonio, the upcoming performance has also sparked political discussion. Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones publicly opposed the use of a city-supported venue for the event, citing concerns over West’s history of controversial and antisemitic remarks. She argued that such performances should not be hosted at taxpayer-linked facilities.

However, city officials later acknowledged limited authority to block the booking without broader council backing.

Despite the debate, the concert is expected to draw significant crowds and generate an estimated $1.7 million boost to the local economy, according to reports.
