Jordana Brewster Paul Walker Fast & Furious Memories Actress Recalls Star’s Obsession with Cars

Jordana Brewster has shared an emotional look back at her time filming the Fast & Furious movies with the late Paul Walker, reflecting on their deep bond both on and off the screen. Brewster, who has portrayed Mia Toretto—the onscreen partner of Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner—since the franchise’s inception, opened up about the unique dynamic they shared during production.

The reflective moment came as the 46-year-old actress attended a special screening of the original 2001 movie at the Cannes Film Festival, marking a milestone 25 years of the high-octane franchise. Brewster graced the prestigious red carpet alongside longtime co-stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as Paul’s daughter, Meadow Walker.

Paul Walker’s Deep Obsession with Cars and Practical Filmmaking

While speaking to Variety during the festival, Brewster recalled how Walker’s genuine passion for automotive culture brought an unmatched level of authenticity to the set. The American actress emphasized how much the late star loved driving, noting that his real-life obsession with cars allowed her to feel completely safe during intense stunt sequences.

“I could rely on him,” Brewster shared. “He loved driving. He was obsessed with cars. He knew how to make things look really cool. It was fun to shoot it more practically. You don’t have to make up the adrenaline.”

Brewster also highlighted how the early films relied heavily on real, practical stunt work rather than modern digital effects, which created a genuine bond between the actors and the production crew.

“There is something inorganic about being in front of a green screen… like, ‘the mountain is this way!’ It’s kind of cheating,” she explained. “There is a level of precision [when it’s practical]. It’s also fun with the crew because they’re leaning out of the car with you.”

A Lasting Legacy Ahead of the ‘Fast Forever’ 2028 Finale

The global entertainment community was left in shock back in 2013 when Paul Walker tragically passed away in a fatal car accident. His sudden death profoundly impacted his co-stars, who have continuously dedicated subsequent films to his memory.

Despite the devastating loss of one of its foundational leads, the multi-billion-dollar franchise has managed to keep Walker’s legacy alive through its storytelling. The long-running saga is currently building toward its ultimate conclusion, with the grand finale film, Fast Forever, officially scheduled to hit theaters in 2028.
