The WWE legend and actor opened up about his hair restoration journey, revealing how two procedures boosted his confidence and changed his approach to self-care.
John Cena has opened up about his decision to undergo two hair transplant procedures, saying the experience has completely transformed his life.
The 49-year-old actor and former WWE superstar discussed his hair restoration journey while attending San Diego Comic-Con, where he shared how the treatments helped address his concerns about thinning hair.
Cena praised his doctor, Ken Anderson, for helping him achieve the results he wanted and said the procedures had a major impact on his confidence.
“The objective is to get more hair, and this was the best way to do it,” Cena explained, adding that his doctor had “totally changed” his life.
The actor revealed that he returned for a second procedure about 15 months after his first surgery to improve a small remaining area.
According to Cena, shaving his head before the procedure helped doctors perform the transplant more effectively by providing better access for placing hair follicles.
He shared that his first operation lasted around 13 and a half hours, while the second procedure took approximately eight hours.
Cena said he trusted the process completely and believes the results have continued to improve over time.
The former WWE champion previously confirmed that he underwent his second follicular unit extraction (FUE) treatment in June, following his first procedure in November 2024.
Cena also revealed that public comments from WWE fans played a role in his decision to explore hair restoration options.
He recalled seeing fan signs referencing his thinning hair, which encouraged him to consider available treatments.

While he is happy with his decision, Cena admitted he has one major regret: waiting so long before taking action.
The actor said that if there had been less stigma surrounding hair loss treatments, he would have chosen to undergo the procedure much earlier.
