Helen Mirren Admits She Avoids Doctors
During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Mirren explained that she rarely worries about potential health problems.
“I ought to be diagnosed with the ‘opposite of hypochondria,’” she said, adding that she simply ignores everything.
Her co-star Alden Ehrenreich then asked if she meant that she avoids visiting doctors.
“Totally. I avoid doctors. Oh no, totally. And it’s working,” Mirren replied.
The actress delivered the comments with humor, highlighting her very different approach to health compared with Ehrenreich.
Mirren Says AI Is Her Alternative
Ehrenreich, who described himself as a hypochondriac during the discussion, said that having a doctor in his home would have thrilled him.
Mirren then offered her own modern solution.
“Well, you do. It’s called AI,” she told him.

“You know, AI is amazing,” Mirren said, humorously describing how she might use it to judge whether something hurts “but doesn’t hurt that much.”
Her remarks appeared to be playful rather than medical advice. AI can provide general health information, but it cannot replace a qualified medical professional for diagnosis or treatment.
What Is Hypochondria?
Hypochondria is an older term commonly associated with what is now called health anxiety or illness anxiety disorder.
The condition involves persistent fears about having or developing a serious illness. Some people may repeatedly check their heart rate, look for physical changes or seek reassurance about symptoms.
