Hickerson entered a no-contest plea in 2021. He faced two felony counts of injuring a spouse or girlfriend. These charges stemmed from multiple domestic violence incidents involving Panettiere between 2019 and 2020.
The judge sentenced Hickerson to 45 days in county jail. He also received four years of formal probation, mandatory domestic violence classes, and a five-year restraining order. Ultimately, he served 33 days behind bars.
Furthermore, Hickerson tried to reduce his felony charges in 2025. The court denied that attempt as well.
