Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has issued a clarification after media reports linked his name to an ongoing money laundering case involving his sister, Dr Fazeela Abbasi. He firmly stated that he has no connection to the case and is not under investigation by any authority.
In a statement shared on his official Instagram account, Hamza said recent coverage had created a misleading impression that he was somehow associated with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inquiry. Rejecting this notion, he emphasized, “I am not under any investigation by any agency, nor am I part of this case in any capacity,” adding that he wanted to clarify the situation.
The actor described his sister as a highly accomplished professional with an independent and successful career. Expressing his support, he said he stood by her “with love and support during this time,” while also stressing that her legal and professional matters are entirely separate from him.
Hamza further noted that since he is not a party to the case, he should not be expected to comment on it. Calling the matter sub judice, he said it was solely up to Dr Fazeela to decide if and when she chooses to share her perspective. He also warned that any future attempts to link his name to the case could result in legal action.
The case against Dr Fazeela Abbasi, a well-known celebrity dermatologist and aesthetician, revolves around alleged financial irregularities. According to reports, approximately Rs25 billion was traced through 22 bank accounts linked to her, with some transactions allegedly routed to Dubai and the United States. Authorities have also questioned the scale of these transactions compared to her reportedly declared annual income.
Although the matter was previously closed by the Islamabad High Court, it has resurfaced after a sessions court reopened proceedings following the cancellation of her interim bail. Investigations are now ongoing, with authorities examining the source of the funds after a plea challenging the FIA’s earlier decision was accepted.
Both Hamza and Dr Fazeela remain prominent public figures in Pakistan—he as a leading actor and she as a notable name in aesthetic medicine.
