Mirzapur The Movie director Gurmmeet Singh has shared his thoughts on the strong response to recent theatrical releases, saying audiences continue to support films when they connect with the stories on screen.
He pointed to the contrasting performances of Mirzapur The Movie and Hanuman Ansh as examples of audiences embracing very different genres.
Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Gurmmeet said the response has strengthened his confidence in the theatrical audience.

Gurmmeet highlighted the difference between the two films.
While Mirzapur The Movie brought a popular crime franchise to cinemas, Hanuman Ansh attracted viewers with its spiritual story.
Despite their different themes, both films found an audience in theatres.
Gurmmeet said this shows that viewers are still willing to visit cinemas when they connect with the content.
“It’s absolutely amazing considering that they are drastically different genres. It just puts so much faith in the cinegoers, confirming that as long as they like what they see, they will keep the cinema halls full,” he said.

Mirzapur The Movie marked the transition of the popular streaming franchise to the big screen.
According to Gurmmeet, the established fan base played an important role in bringing audiences into cinemas.
He admitted that the scale of the response exceeded expectations.
“I don’t think anyone could’ve imagined the response we have received,” he said.
Gurmmeet added that seeing the franchise’s fans turn up at theatres and enjoy the film was an experience the team would always remember.

‘Mirzapur The Movie’ Box Office Performance
Mirzapur The Movie continued its theatrical run after releasing on September 4.
According to figures cited in the report, the film had collected ₹227.65 crore net in India by Day 25.
Its worldwide gross had reached ₹331.42 crore during the same period.
Gurmmeet Singh directed the film, while Puneet Krishna wrote the screenplay.
The cast includes Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Ravi Kishan and Mohitt Maalik.
‘Hanuman Ansh’ Also Sees Strong Theatrical Run
Meanwhile, Hanuman Ansh also recorded a strong performance at the box office.
According to the report, the spiritual drama crossed ₹300 crore net in India and surpassed ₹400 crore worldwide.
The film was written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi.
