Dwayne Johnson has revealed that he recently endured a frightening cancer scare after discovering a painful lump in his left testicle, an experience that left him quietly battling anxiety while awaiting medical results.
In a candid interview with Esquire, the actor shared details of the health concern that emerged earlier this year. Johnson said he first noticed the painful lump on a Friday and spent the following days worried about what it could mean.
The 54-year-old star admitted he initially kept the issue to himself, choosing not to tell his wife, Lauren Hashian, until he had more information.
According to Johnson, the discomfort continued to worsen over the weekend, prompting him to seek medical advice. When he finally met with his doctor on Monday, he was told the condition was most likely epididymitis, an inflammation affecting a tube located behind the testicle.
However, doctors could not immediately rule out a more serious diagnosis.
Johnson recalled being informed that while the condition appeared treatable, there was also a possibility it could be cancer. The uncertainty forced him to undergo additional testing, including an ultrasound scheduled for the following day.

“By the way, I’m fine,” Johnson said, reflecting on the ordeal. “But I didn’t know that then.”
The actor explained that he still had professional commitments to fulfill during the waiting period, including a promotional event related to the Jumanji franchise. Despite his concerns, he spent the day making public appearances, delivering speeches, and interacting with fans while privately dealing with the fear of a potential cancer diagnosis.
For Johnson, the most difficult part was not knowing the outcome.
He described the 24-hour wait for answers as emotionally challenging, especially while maintaining his public persona in front of large audiences.
Medical experts eventually helped him address those issues through a treatment plan focused on probiotics and plant-based compounds designed to improve digestive health.
Now fully recovered from his latest scare, Johnson says he is grateful for the positive outcome and the medical care he received.
