Conan O’Brien has revealed the surprising reason behind his recent slicked-back hairstyle, and it involves an unexpected scalp injury.
The 63-year-old comedian explained on his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend that a painful sunburn on his scalp forced him to change the way his hair looked.
O’Brien said he suffered the burn while attending the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on June 18.
The comedian remembered applying sunscreen to his face but forgot to protect his scalp from the sun.
A few days later, O’Brien noticed his head feeling extremely painful and described the sensation as if his scalp was “on fire.”
He also experienced itching and peeling skin, joking that the falling flakes looked like “freckled confetti.”
