BTS Rejects Grammy Submission Over New Asian Pop Category Controversy
South Korean global superstars BTS have decided not to submit their music for the 69th Annual Grammy Awards, stepping away from a possible historic first Grammy win amid controversy over the Recording Academy’s newly introduced Asian Pop Music category.
The decision was confirmed by BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook through a joint statement shared on their Instagram Stories.
The group said they would not take part in Grammy consideration this year, adding that music should be judged beyond borders, languages, or regions.
“We hope music can be heard and embraced for what it is, beyond region or language,” BTS said in their statement.
The members also thanked fans worldwide for their continued love and support.
