Faris shared her reaction on Instagram on October 15. She said she did not expect the comments, which appeared in Lorre’s new memoir, Sitcom.
“Yikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn’t see that coming,” she wrote. “Of course it hurts.”
Anna Faris Looks Back on Her Years on Mom
Despite her disappointment, Faris expressed gratitude for her time on the show. She said the role gave her years of work that she valued.
“Chuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted,” she explained. She also praised the people she worked with and said the experience still meant a lot to her.
“I’m proud of what we made together,” Faris added. She stressed that Lorre’s comments would not change her appreciation for the show or its cast and crew.

Anna Faris Shares a Personal Update
Faris also reflected on how her life has changed since she starred in Mom. The sitcom focused on recovery, family struggles and the challenges of staying sober.
“I’ve been sober for a year and a half,” she shared. “I was on a show about recovery and then I lived it.”
The actress added that she is now healthy, working and happier than she has been in a long time. Her comments offered a personal look at her journey beyond the sitcom.
What Chuck Lorre Wrote About Anna Faris
In his memoir, Sitcom, Lorre discussed his early doubts about casting Faris in the CBS comedy. He recalled being unsure whether the Scary Movie actress would suit the show’s subject matter.
“I wasn’t sure Anna would be appropriate for this kind of material,” he wrote.
However, Lorre later changed his mind. He decided that Faris was the right choice to play Christy Plunkett, a recovering alcoholic trying to rebuild her life.
Why Anna Faris Left Mom in 2020
Mom premiered in 2013, with Faris playing Christy alongside Allison Janney, who portrayed her mother, Bonnie. The story followed their efforts to maintain sobriety while dealing with family and work challenges.
Faris appeared in the first seven seasons before announcing her departure in 2020, ahead of Season 8.
Lorre wrote that her exit strengthened his belief that his original concerns about casting her had been justified. He also referred to her reasons for leaving as “mysterious.”
Faris has now shared her response to those remarks. Although she admitted feeling hurt, she also made clear that she remains proud of the work she and her colleagues created on Mom.
