Anil Kapoor has paid an emotional tribute to his longtime friend and co-star Nana Patekar. His heartfelt message came hours after news of the veteran actor’s death on Thursday.
Taking to Instagram, Anil called Nana “Nanya” and shared his grief over losing another close friend. He also remembered actor Satish Kaushik, whose death had deeply affected him.
“Mera dost mujhe chhodkar chala gaya… pehle Satish aur ab mera Nanya,” Anil wrote. He described Nana as one of the greatest artists and said he had left them far too soon.
Anil ended his note by saying he would miss Nana in life, on film sets, on phone calls, and on the big screen.
His daughter, actress Sonam Kapoor, also reacted to the post. “I’m so sorry dad. You really loved him,” she commented.
Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar Shared a Long Friendship
The two actors shared a friendship that lasted for decades. They first worked together in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Parinda in 1989. The film earned Nana his first National Film Award.
Their on-screen partnership reached a wider audience through the Welcome franchise. As Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai, the pair became one of Hindi cinema’s best-loved comic duos. Their timing and chemistry helped make the films memorable.
Nana Patekar Dies at 75
Nana Patekar reportedly died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa in the early hours of Thursday. Doctors at Manipal Hospital tried to revive him for around 45 minutes but could not save him. He was 75.
His last rites took place at his farmhouse, Nanachi Wadi, in Donje village near Khadakwasla, Pune. Senior political leaders and thousands of fans gathered to pay their final respects.
