Andrew Garfield has revealed what his ideal day off looks like, and his plans were refreshingly simple.
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 43-year-old actor discussed his upcoming film The Magic Faraway Tree. He also shared details about a memorable Sunday in New York City.
Garfield said he was lucky enough to have two days off. He spent part of the time catching up with one of his closest friends, Greg Miele, a physical therapist and massage therapist he has known for decades.
The treatment left his muscles sore, but Garfield said he felt much better afterwards.
Broadway Show Leaves Garfield in Tears
After his appointment, Garfield walked uptown to watch a new production of Death of a Salesman.
The Broadway show stars Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf and Chris Abbott. Garfield said the performance moved him deeply.
“I cried a lot,” the actor shared, describing how he sobbed while watching the play. He also had the chance to hug Lane after the performance.
The emotional experience became one of the highlights of his day.
A Walk in Central Park and Dinner With Friends
Garfield continued his outing with a walk through Central Park. He stopped at Bethesda Fountain, a spot that holds special meaning for him because of its connection to the play Angels in America.
Later, he met friends for dinner before heading home for a quiet evening.
The actor watched Game of Thrones and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms before falling asleep around 10 p.m. He said he managed to get eight hours of sleep.
Garfield joked that his plans might sound like the perfect day for a middle-aged man, but he was happy with the routine.
Andrew Garfield’s Next Film
Garfield is set to appear in Artificial, directed by Luca Guadagnino. The film is scheduled to open in select US theatres on December 25, 2026, before receiving a wider release in January 2027.
His account of the day offers a glimpse into the actor’s life away from film sets. For Garfield, a great day meant good friends, meaningful art, a peaceful walk and a full night’s rest.
