Visual historian and author Lucy Sante is presenting two exhibitions of recent collage work. The shows feature artwork created from materials she has gathered over decades.
Sante, celebrated for her book “Low Life,” describes her process as one of transformation. She cuts and reassembles fragments from her extensive personal archive.
Her approach to the medium is direct. The act of collage, she suggests, inherently involves destruction to create something new.
